Bible Study: February 9, 2014

NASHVILLE (BP) — This weekly Bible study appears in Baptist Press in a partnership with LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention. Through its Leadership and Adult Publishing team, LifeWay publishes Sunday School curricula and additional resources for all age groups.

This week’s Bible study is adapted from the Bible Studies for Life curriculum.

Bible Passages: Psalm 119:1-8,137-144

Discussion Question: How has the Bible proven itself to be trustworthy to you?

Food for Thought:

Year in and year out, surveys continue to show a majority of Americans view the Bible as God’s Word. And while we might bemoan the fact that there are people who deny the validity of the Bible (or give it equal weight alongside the Koran or other religious works), we should also consider how Bible-believing Christians express their trust in God’s Word.

LifeWay Research found that over half of churchgoers rarely or never study the Bible, and a third of them rarely or never even read the Bible. The Bible is worth our time because the Bible is trustworthy and reliable — and it is trustworthy and reliable because it is God’s Word. Psalm 119 affirms the Bible’s reliability, and in this week’s study of this passage we can be encouraged and challenged to put our trust in God’s Word in all matters.
