Evangelists focus on taking Gospel ‘Into All the World’

GREENSBORO, N.C. (BP)–The urgency of preaching the Gospel to all nations will be a rallying cry for the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists June 9-11 as they focus on “Going Into All the World.”

Jerry Rankin, president of the International Mission Board, will be among the featured speakers at the evangelists’ annual retreat, Friday and Saturday, June 9-10, at the Holiday Inn Express Guilford Convention Center in Greensboro, N.C.

The annual Sunday morning worship service sponsored by the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists will be June 11 in the Guilford Ballrooms A and B on level one of the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons from 8:45 until noon.

Bailey Smith, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, will be the featured speaker at the worship service, along with COSBE President Bill Britt, Jerry Chaddick of Spirit Truth Ministries in Lake Charles, La., and Brian Fossett of Fossett Evangelistic Ministries in Dalton, Ga.

Inspirational music will be provided by Eddie Middleton, a Dove Award nominee and co-founder of NewSong, along with Joe and Kim Stanley, Jeff and Diane Anders and Eric Baker.

The retreat will feature Rankin and number of other evangelists and SBC leaders.

Britt, of Compel Outreach International, will give the theme interpretation; Ron Herrod, an evangelist with RHEMA International, will speak on “You Shall Receive Power”; Anis Shorrosh of the Anis Shorrosh Evangelistic Association, “When the Holy Spirit Is Come Upon You”; John Avant, vice president of evangelism for the North American Mission Board, “In Jerusalem”; Milton Hollifield, executive director of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, “In All Judea”; Richard Blackaby, president of Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary, “In Samaria”; and Rankin, “Into All the World.”

The retreat will conclude by noon Saturday so that the evangelists can participate in the annual Crossover evangelistic outreach preceding each year’s SBC annual meeting.
