FamilyNet Radio moves to channel 161 on Sirius radio


FORT WORTH, Texas (BP)–FamilyNet Radio has moved to a new spot on Sirius satellite radio -– channel 161 -– in order to place it in the network’s expanded family category.

Effective Sept. 26, FamilyNet’s former channel 159 is occupied by programming produced by the Catholic Archdiocese of New York.

FamilyNet also has added 13 new programs to its lineup in September, including preaching by Johnny Hunt, airing on Sundays from 12:30-1 p.m. Eastern with a replay on Mondays at 12:30 a.m. Hunt is pastor of the Atlanta-area First Baptist Church in Woodstock, Ga.

“Jerry Vines by the Book,” also on Sundays, from 8:30 to 9 a.m., features the preaching and teaching of the retired senior pastor of First Baptist Church in, Jacksonville, Fla.

Other new programs (all listed with Eastern times) are:

— “Precepts for Life with Kay Arthur” -– Mondays-Fridays from 7-7:30 p.m., with host Kay Arthur of Precept Ministries International covering in-depth topics for everyday life by teaching people how to study God’s Word for themselves.

— “Prudent Money” –- Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, with host Bob Brooks fielding listeners’ financial questions on such topics as mortgages, estate planning, insurance, investing and good stewardship. Brooks also provides investors with an analysis of the week’s markets and timely economic news.

— “Christian Car Guy” –- Saturdays from 10-11 a.m., with host Robbie Dilmore responding to listeners’ car-related questions.

— “The Gary DeMar Show” –- Saturdays from noon-1 p.m. with a replay from 10-11 p.m., with host and author Gary DeMar relaying what is described as “a provocative review of current events, pop culture, politics, religion, and many other topics, all examined through the lens of a biblical worldview.” The program originates live from Atlanta.

— “Truth Talk Live” with Stu Epperson -– Mondays–Fridays from 5 to 6 p.m. Epperson describes the live call-in show as the place “where theology, pop culture and current events all come together” to challenge listeners to grow in their faith and get involved in their community. “Truth Talk Weekend” – Saturdays from 5-6 p.m., features the best from the weekday Truth Talk Live program.

— “Breath of Life” with Walter L. Pearson Jr. -– Sundays from 1:30-2 p.m., a program described as presenting “a contemporary urban perspective” on the Gospel.

— “The Word for Life” -– Sundays from 2-2:30 p.m., hosted by Sam Horn, senior pastor of Brookside Baptist Church in Brookfield, Wis., and co-hosted by Les Ollila, chancellor of Northland Baptist Bible College, seeking to “help believers live a God-centered, truth-driven life.”

— “ShareLife” -– Sundays from 2:30-3 p.m. –- with insights into Christian living featuring messages by the late Mark Corts, pastor emeritus of Calvary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, N.C., and founder of the Tarheel Leadership Network for pastors.

— “Laus Deo” -– Sundays from 5 to 6 p.m. with a replay Mondays at 4 a.m. – hosted by Paul Wolfe, assistant dean of biblical studies and associate professor of New Testament at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Named for the Latin phrase meaning “Praise be unto God,” the program provides callers and listeners an opportunity to gain biblical insight into today’s life issues.

— “Cross Examination” –- Sundays from 7 to 8 p.m. with a replay Saturdays at 4 p.m., featuring author and attorney Randy Singer addressing legal issues of concern to Christians using an interactive format with law students from Regent University as advocates for selected topics. After a time of cross examination by Singer, listeners are invited to vote. At the conclusion of the program, Singer’s verdict -– and the audience’s — are given.

FamilyNet Radio also airs call-in shows with leading evangelical talk personalities, preaching from the nation’s top pastors and other family friendly programs. Included in the channel lineup are such broadcasts as “Focus on the Family” with James Dobson; “Jay Sekulow Live!”; “Hope for the Heart” with June Hunt; and “Way of the Master” with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort.
