Hispanic church planting to be highlighted June 11

GREENSBORO, N.C. (BP)–The Southern Baptist Convention’s Ninth Annual Hispanic Church Planting Celebration will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 11, in Pleasant Garden, N.C., prior to the June 13-14 Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in Greensboro.

“Hispanic Baptists, Yes, We Can!” will be the theme of the meeting, to be hosted by Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. The session will be sponsored by the North American Mission Board’s church planting group.

The three-hour meeting will include updates on Southern Baptist efforts in Hispanic church planting during 2005, state and national church planting leader recognition, and special recognition of Javier Benitez and Raul Vasquez for “faithful church planting service.” Also part of the session will be praise and worship with the group Vizion, a music concert, food and fellowship.
