NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Mick Houston, manager of the LifeWay Christian Store in Franklin, Tenn., was named 1999 Manager of the Year for the 86-store chain, Bruce Munns, director of store operations, announced Jan. 3.
Houston won the award based on a formula that takes into account each store’s financial performance and the manager’s leadership styles as rated by regional directors. The regional directors then review the credentials of the top five candidates, and a secret ballot determines the winner.
Houston will receive the award during a LifeWay Christian Stores’ national sales meeting in Nashville in May.
“Mick has provided outstanding leadership in Franklin where we experienced the most dynamic first-year start of any store in our chain’s history,” said Munns. “Mick, his entire staff and others who played a part in making 1999 a record year for LifeWay can be proud of this special recognition.”
Houston, who has worked for LifeWay stores three years, said of the honor: “This award is really a reflection of my staff. All the glory goes to God because he’s the reason for our success.”
The 86-store chain is a division of LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention.
