Seminaries slate luncheons at Baltimore SBC


BALTIMORE (BP) — Alumni and friends of Southern Baptists’ six seminaries will gather Wednesday, June 11, in Baltimore to hear updates from their respective schools and renew their friendships.

The noontime luncheons will be held in conjunction with the June 10-11 annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention in the Baltimore Convention Center.

A list of the seminaries’ plans follows:

GOLDEN GATE — Jeff Iorg, Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary’s president, will be the featured speaker at the alumni and friends luncheon Wednesday, June 11, at noon in Room 310 of the Baltimore Convention Center. Iorg will report on the seminary’s activities over the past year and discuss new initiatives for the coming year. In addition, Golden Gate’s distinguished alumni awards will be presented. Reserved tickets, at $10 per person, are available by calling 1-888-442-8709 or emailing [email protected]. Tickets also may be purchased at Golden Gate’s booth in the Exhibit Hall during the SBC annual meeting.

MIDWESTERN — Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s luncheon will feature a panel on “The Life and Work of Charles Spurgeon.” President Jason K. Allen and other special guests will be discussing the life and legacy of British preacher and theologian and considering what impact he should make on our churches. The event, slated for Rooms 343-344 on Level 300 of the Baltimore Convention Center, is open to all SBC attendees, with tickets at $15. More information will be available at www.mbts.edu.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary’s alumni relations office will host a reunion luncheon for alumni and friends on Wednesday, June 11, at the SBC annual meeting in Baltimore. Immediately following the morning session, the luncheon will be served in the Key Ballroom 3/4/6, Level 2 at the Hilton Baltimore Hotel. In addition to connecting with friends and former classmates, NOBTS President Chuck Kelley will update attendees on the previous year’s developments and activities at the seminary. The Distinguished Alumni for 2014 will be named and national alumni officers will be elected. Tickets are $20 per person if purchased by May 31, $25 afterward. Or, tickets are available online at www.nobts.edu. All luncheon tickets may be picked up at the seminary’s booth in the Exhibit Hall during the SBC annual meeting. Tickets also may be purchased during the convention at the NOBTS exhibit.

SOUTHEASTERN — Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary will host its alumni and friends in Oriole Park at Camden Yards. A panel moderated by Ed Stetzer will feature Danny Akin, Bruce Ashford, Nathan Finn, Trillia Newbell and Thom Rainer. The annual luncheon during the SBC annual meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday, June 11, in Suite B. SOUTHERN — Southern Baptist Theological Seminary will welcome alumni and friends from around the country for its annual luncheon at the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting at noon Wednesday, June 11, in Ballroom IV of Level 400 of the Baltimore Convention Center. Attendees will hear what God is doing in and through Southern Seminary from President R. Albert Mohler Jr. Tickets are $25 and are available for purchase on Southern Seminary’s website at www.sbts.edu/alumni-and-friends/sbc-luncheon and at the seminary’s booth at the convention center.

SOUTHWESTERN — Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary’s national alumni and friends luncheon on June 11 will begin at noon in Ballroom I on Level 400 of the Baltimore Convention Center. SWBTS President Paige Patterson will present the seminary’s annual report and the 2014 distinguished alumnus awards to Daniel Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and U.S. Rep. James Lankford of Oklahoma. Tickets may be purchased for $20 per person online at www.swbts.edu/sbclunch or by calling 1-877-GO SWBTS (467-9287). Tickets also will be available during the SBC annual meeting at Southwestern’s booth in the Exhibit Hall.
