Shields named technology officer at LifeWay Christian Resources

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Gerald Shields, director of information systems for LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention, has been named to an expanded corporate role as chief technology officer.

“In this capacity, Gerald will be responsible for leading LifeWay in the rapid and ever-changing world of technology,” Jim Carter, chief financial officer, said. “He will help us focus strategically on choosing and utilizing the best technological resources to enhance the effectiveness of the ministries and business of LifeWay.”

Shields, who will continue to direct information systems, joined LifeWay in 1993. Previously he was employed by Electronic Data Systems of Dallas, spending his last three years there as account manager for the corporate systems and data center operation of the Saturn Corporation. Earlier, he was a systems analyst for the Texas Eastman Company of Longview.

He is a graduate of Baylor University, Waco, Texas.
