Iowa Baptists highlight evangelism, church planting
ANKNEY, Iowa (BP) -- With the theme "Together for Iowa," the Baptist Convention of Iowa held its 2019 annual meeting at First Family Church in Ankeny on Nov. 2. Keynote speaker Ronnie Floyd, president of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee, exhorted Iowa churches to renew their urgency for evangelism. He pointed out the sharp drop in professions of faith among 12-17-year-olds and challenged Southern Baptist church leaders to embrace the call to reach these next-generation leaders for Christ.
Iowa Baptists note church growth, increased giving
AMES, Iowa (BP) -- The 2017 Baptist Convention of Iowa annual meeting was held in conjunction with a two-day "For the Church" micro conference in partnership with Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Four hundred participants attended the Nov. 3-4 conference, which included featured speakers Jason K. Allen, MBTS president; Jared Wilson, MBTS director of content strategy; Jeff Dodge, lead pastor at Cornerstone Church in Ames; and Rechab Gray, teaching pastor at Cottage Grove Church in Des Moines.
