Alabama church forgives flag thief, extends invitation to church
GRAND BAY, Ala. (BP) -- It's not every day that a church is robbed, but it's even less common for the offender to return what was stolen with a written apology. First Baptist Church Grand Bay, Ala., had placed American flags across its campus to celebrate July 4. Ribbons were placed on each of the flags to honor veterans of the U.S. armed forces.
How World Changers changed Baptist missions
NASHVILLE (BP) -- Thirty years ago this summer, a group of 137 youth and adults spent a week in Appalachian coal country doing construction work on nine homes and sharing the Gospel in the neighborhoods where they worked. That pilot project in the East Tennessee community of Briceville marked the beginning of World Changers.
LGBT ordinance again before Fayetteville
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (BP) -- Residents in Fayetteville, Ark., will once again vote on an ordinance aimed at protecting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community Sept. 8. Passed by the Fayetteville City Council in a 6-2 vote June 16, Ordinance 5781 is a revised version of a similar civil rights law originally passed in August 2014 by the council. The law was repealed by a popular vote in December.
