Thank you, Southern Baptists

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--The Southern Baptist Convention meeting in San Antonio was a wonderful experience for me. Yes, it was nerve-racking in some ways as it was my first time to moderate a meeting of that size. Yes, there was spirited debate and discussion over a few issues. Yes, it was a physically and emotionally draining time. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful experience.

God’s promise fulfilled

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--Wouldn't it be wonderful if we were to see the latter part of 2 Chronicles 7:14 come to pass? There, God promises that if we fulfill our obligations, then He will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land. Wouldn't you love to see this in your lifetime? I certainly would.

Seeking His face

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--As we continue our emphasis upon spiritual awakening, renewal and revival, we continue to focus upon God's prescription found in 2 Chronicles 7:14. This great text says the following, "And (if) My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land."

Prodigal, come home

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--God's call to our convention is clear. He wants spiritual awakening, renewal and revival. He wishes for us to see the elements of 2 Chronicles 7:14 to be the operative factors in a turnaround in our nation and world. His call is clear.

What does God require?

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--As we continue studying the great passage, 2 Chronicles 7:14, we see God's requirements for renewal and revival. We continue to see what God would wish for us. I ask that we continue in a spirit of self-evaluation and analysis as we ponder our spiritual position and condition.

God commands humility

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--As we approach the Southern Baptist Convention meeting in San Antonio, I continue to call for our people to pray, even beg God for spiritual renewal and revival.

Evangelism with integrity

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--As we approach this summer's Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in San Antonio, I am asking all Southern Baptists to join me for the next several weeks in a serious time of prayer for spiritual awakening, spiritual renewal and spiritual revival.

Pray for laborers

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--In the month of May, I will be privileged to speak at the graduation ceremonies of two seminaries and at least one college. Over the last eight months, I have spoken at all of our Southern Baptist seminaries in one format or another.

Guarding against sexual abuse

TAYLORS, S.C. (BP)--Several days ago, I was interviewed by ABC's "20/20" news for an upcoming program tentatively titled, "Preacher Predators." At the request of several, I agreed to this invitation so as to provide some kind of balance to a program which may well be overwhelmingly negative.

A visit to GuideStone

Many people across the Southern Baptist Convention ask me about the health of our entities. I have been privileged to visit many of our seminaries, mission boards and other entities over the past eight months.
