FIRST-PERSON: Known by God

ATLANTA (BP)--Every believer should read and reread Psalm 139 on a regular basis. It is David’s beautiful description of God’s perfect and divine knowledge of Him and His ways:

FIRST-PERSON: An all-powerful God

ATLANTA (BP)--The God of Creation is my God and your God --TODAY! And there is so much we can learn about God from what we see of Him in His creation.

FIRST-PERSON: America, honor God

Editor's note: Henry Blackaby is serving as honorary chairman of this year’s National Day of Prayer. ATLANTA (BP)--This 2006 National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 4, may be one of the most important and significant in our history as a nation. We are facing real threats to our national security and the moral fiber of America. Spiritual decay is causing a great social unrest, including the breakdown of the family. In short, we are facing a national crisis that has the potential to bring about some very dire consequences.

FIRST-PERSON: Living for eternity

ATLANTA (BP)--God’s nature and heart are in eternity! Isaiah 57:15 states: “For thus saith the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy....” Then the prophet continues to describe the nature and activity of God, especially as it relates to each of us.

FIRST-PERSON: Living life seriously

ATLANTA (BP)--I am often amazed at how lightly, even carelessly, too many people experience life. They know about the tsunamis and hurricanes with their devastation. They have seen the reports of the Pakistani earthquake. And, of course, they are aware of the many other natural disasters that have taken countless lives.

FIRST-PERSON: Choosing to experience God’s fullness

ATLANTA (BP)--The Apostle Paul, having recognized the need for God’s people to develop a more intimate relationship with God, urged and pleaded with them to experience “God’s FULLNESS." He states this prayer in Ephesians 3:14-21, which states, in part: “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our LORD Jesus Christ ... that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through the Spirit in the inner man ... that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

FIRST-PERSON: Living in a ‘special event’ society

ATLANTA (BP)--We tend to “set a time” for many things. We’ve just been through Halloween in October and Thanksgiving in November. Now we’re poised for Christmas in December and then New Year's Day in January.

FIRST-PERSON: Where have all the friends gone?

ATLANTA (BP)--Where have true, God-purposed “friends” gone, in this day of ours?

FIRST-PERSON: What WE should do when tragedy strikes

ATLANTA (BP)--Last month I asked “Where God is in the midst of tragedies?” This month I will address “What should we do when tragedy strikes?” How should we respond, in the midst of tragedy such as death, loss, financial or marriage crises?

FIRST-PERSON: Where is God in the midst of tragedies?

ATLANTA (BP)--In the midst of tragedies, every promise of God is still true. Tragedy does not remove God or change God. He remains (Hebrews 13:8). When God says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” (Deuteronomy 31:6; Hebrews 13:5), He means this and He never changes. Such promises of God are for such times as tragedy.
