FIRST-PERSON: Overwhelming situations are God’s gracious preparation
I have found so much encouragement over the years from the story of Jesus feeding the five thousand as recorded in John 6. The ultimate point of that story is that Jesus is the Bread of Life. But on another level, this story is about Jesus teaching something to the disciples.
FIRST-PERSON: Weeping with those who weep
The killings of two black men and five police officers prompt Dallas-area pastor Josh Smith to voice an initial word of counsel: "[A]mong the many good and Gospel-centered responses that the church will have to this situation, let's not miss the most basic one -- to feel.... We must pray that God, in His grace, will allow us to weep with those who weep."
