RICHMOND, Va. (BP) – International Mission Board trustees approved 92 fully funded missionaries for appointment during their May 17-18 meeting in Richmond. Missionaries approved for appointment will be recognized during a Sending Celebration on Tuesday, June 13, at 9:50 a.m. CDT in conjunction with the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting in New Orleans, La. The event will be livestreamed atsbcannualmeeting.net.

RICHMOND, Va. (BP) -- The International Mission Board’s newest missionary emeriti have heard the statistics of lostness. According to recent global research data, 4.6 billion people, or 59 percent, in the world remain unreached with the Gospel.

RICHMOND, Va. (BP) – Twenty Asian American leaders representing seven ethnicities gathered at the International Mission Board in Richmond May 2-4 to explore opportunities to reach the nations. This is the first time Asian leaders from across the Southern Baptist Convention have met collectively with IMB leaders to learn, encourage each other and commit to new levels of cooperation to advance the Gospel. Participants included local pastors, state fellowship directors and Southern Baptist entity representatives.  

Nights are the hardest. Really, anytime he’s alone in the apartment is hard. He’d much rather be with people or be busy at work. Time alone reminds him of his family – his wife, daughter and two sons. He hasn’t seen them in person in nine years. He blinks back tears when he talks about them.

(BP) – International Mission Board trustees approved the appointment of 22 full-time, fully funded missionaries to solve the world’s greatest problem – lostness – during their Sept. 28-29 meeting near Richmond, Virginia. The missionaries — plus two appointed earlier in the year — participated in a Sending Celebration, hosted by Beaverdam Baptist Church in Beaverdam, Va.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (BP) – International Mission Board President Paul Chitwood began IMB’s report to the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting with recent good news from the mission field. He recounted a message he received the previous night from a pastor whose daughter serves overseas. Chitwood shared that three Muslim women had accepted Christ as Savior. These salvations were the first the IMB missionary team had seen among this people group.

Collectively, they speak more than 40 languages and numerous local and tribal dialects. Many endured persecution, war, tribal conflict and loss of property. Several had their homes burned. ORLANDO, Fla. (BP) -- International Mission Board trustees approved 56 new fully funded missionaries for appointment during their May 18-19 meeting in Orlando. The meeting was conducted in conjunction with the Celebration of Emeriti event held every five years to recognize retiring missionaries who have completed their service with the IMB.

The October 2021 day in Ukraine was cold, though the sun was shining brightly. Ludmila, bundled in her coat with a scarf wrapped around her head, walked to a small church in her village. She had heard from a friend that the church was hosting a medical clinic. The long conflict with Russia had left her village with no access to medical care. This would be her only hope to see a doctor. Plus, she heard that there was no cost – inconceivable to her.
