NEW ORLEANS (BP) -- More than 4,000 friends and dignitaries gathered in front of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Leavell College June 14 to celebrate the dedication of the Fred Luter Jr. Student Center and the presentation of a state resolution and local proclamations honoring “the pastor of New Orleans.”

NEW ORLEANS -- "Hope for the best; plan for the worst" was the warning the hospice doctor gave Joyce Harrington, 93, at a New Orleans hospital when she was admitted with COVID-19 symptoms March 25. The doctor delivered the same dire warning over the phone to Harrington's daughters -- Rhonda Harrington Kelley, wife of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary President Emeritus Chuck Kelley, and Mitzi Woodson, whose husband is a medical doctor in Oklahoma.

NEW ORLEANS -- For Joe and Graham Waller -- brothers as well as New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary students -- moving to online classes during the stay-at-home mandate is bringing adjustments and lessons. Graham, blind since childhood, continues with his Leavell College classes online, listening to lectures in two classes and logging in for voice lessons via social media.
