Hispanic Task Force completes report with multiple proposals

ALPHARETTA, GA (BP)--A national Hispanic task force created by the North American Mission Board has submitted a report recommending a wide range of new resources, conferences and training to help Southern Baptists share the Gospel with one of the fastest-growing people groups in the United States and Canada.

MIAMI (BP)--Fifty-four new missionaries were urged to depend on the Lord, one another and Southern Baptists as they go to their part of the North American mission field.

Changes announced for 2 NAMB v.p. posts

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)--North American Mission Board President Robert E. (Bob) Reccord announced key leadership changes during the agency’s semiannual employee Spiritual Focus Day Jan. 13. The moves include changing assignments for John Yarbrough, vice president of evangelization, calling well-known Georgia pastor John Avant as his replacement, and filling two strategic department leadership positions.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)--Talk about preaching to the choir -– Southern Baptist Convention President Bobby Welch brought his message of reaching people for Christ and importance of the SBC Cooperative Program missions support to the North American Mission Board Sept. 16. Needless to say, he received a rousing welcome.
      “Bobby Welch is God’s man to take Southern Baptists to the next level of evangelism and missions,” NAMB President Robert E. (Bob) Reccord said in introducing Welch during the chapel service held at First Baptist Church, Alpharetta, Ga., because national disaster relief operations have taken over NAMB’s auditorium.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)--The North American Mission Board will provide low-interest loans quickly and with virtually no paperwork to Southern Baptist churches damaged by Hurricanes Charley, Frances and Ivan, as well as other natural disasters.

ATLANTA (BP)--Facing prospects of a third major hurricane strike in Florida in a month, more than 100 Southern Baptist Disaster Relief units are preparing to evacuate the state -- again. And, more than 25 Southern Baptist units en route to the beleaguered state have been either re-routed or stopped temporarily or have returned home.
