DALLAS (BP) -- With many churches reporting strained budgets due to the fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, GuideStone is offering a one-time opportunity for both Group Plans and Personal Plans to step down to a lower-cost health care plan for the remainder of 2020. Generally the option to change plans is available only during re-enrollment.

DALLAS (BP) -- GuideStone Financial Resources continues to monitor the developments around the new coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19. For participants in GuideStone's health plans, including both HSA-qualified High Deductible Health Plans and Secure Health, GuideStone will waive costs for physician-ordered diagnostic testing for the novel coronavirus. Additionally, a COVID-19 diagnosis that required a participant to miss work would be covered if a participant has short- or long-term disability coverage from GuideStone through Unum.

DALLAS (BP) -- For the first time in the 175-year history of the Southern Baptist Convention, one of its historic boards will have an African American woman trustee chair. Renée A. Trewick was elected March 2 by GuideStone trustees. She is a vice president at Marsh USA in New York and is active in Southern Baptist life. She served as vice chair of the GuideStone board in 2019. Her other Southern Baptist service includes serving on the executive board and finance committee of her local association.

DALLAS (BP) -- While the market moves and minute-by-minute headlines on cable news and social media can be alarming, David Spika, chief strategic investment officer of GuideStone, indicated that volatility witnessed this week in the market at this point of the economic cycle would be expected. "Stocks rallied in 2019 based on several factors, with Federal Reserve rate cuts being most prominent," Spika said. "Corporate earnings growth and an improved global economy are the most important factors that would be necessary to continue this long-running market rally. DALLAS (BP) -- Former Annuity Board (now GuideStone Financial Resources) president Darold H. Morgan passed away December 11. He was 95. Morgan served as president of the Annuity Board from March 1, 1972, until his retirement March 1, 1990, when he was succeeded by Paul W. Powell, who died in December 2016.
