DALLAS (BP) – Gateway Seminary trustees recommended the election of Alexander E. Stewart as vice president of academic services and professor of New Testament studies and approved a 2021-22 budget of $12,275,000 at their April 19-20 meeting. Trustees joined the meeting remotely and in person at a hotel in Dallas.

ONTARIO, Calif. (BP) – Gateway Seminary’s board of trustees approved a revised budget of $12,000,000 for the 2020-2021 fiscal year during the fall 2020 meeting. Due to stronger than anticipated revenue, trustees approved a return to the original proposed budget developed before the coronavirus pandemic. Included in this budget are previously planned salary increases for Gateway faculty and staff.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (BP) -- Bart Physioc, the new civilian pastor of the U.S. Naval Academy chapel, is filling the gap for busy Navy chaplains who need help ministering to an entire congregation. Physioc fills a unique position in a congregation that encompasses active duty and retired military, civilians and staff. Because Navy chaplains have responsibilities that limit their ability to pastor the whole church, Physioc helps cover visitations and ministers to and disciples the members. Physioc is a 1983 and 1988 alumnus of Gateway Seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention.

ONTARIO, Calif. (BP) -- One of the unofficial mottos of Gateway Seminary -- "the mission matters most" -- is exemplified in the ministry of Wayne Eurich, who may be the oldest living graduate of the Southern Baptist seminary. Eurich graduated in 1950 with a bachelor of theology degree as part of the second graduating class of then-Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. As a student, he pastored Baptist churches in Fairfield and Novato, Calif.

ONTARIO, Calif. (BP) -- Relatives and friends celebrated with Gateway Seminary's first graduating class on Dec. 17 in the chapel of the new Los Angeles-area campus. Thirty graduates received degrees, including 16 doctoral students. The seminary dedicated its new main campus in Ontario, Calif., in October. Jeff Iorg, president of Gateway Seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention, reminded graduates that God chose to use some unexpected people in the Bible such as David, who is included in Jesus' genealogy in Matthew chapter one.
