2009 VBS photo contest goes to Va. church

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–A bird’s-eye view of children performing the “Boomerang Express” Vacation Bible School musical won Salem Baptist Church in Sparta, Va., the first place award in the third annual Facts & Trends Online VBS Photo Contest.

The winning image garnered 38 percent of the nearly 1,200 votes cast in this year’s contest, according to LifeWay Christian Resources, which produced the VBS materials and sponsors the contest. Photos from Virginia, Missouri, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Georgia and Indonesia were selected as contest finalists. Images from Pioneer Baptist Church in Clewiston, Fla., and Liberty Baptist Church in Everton, Mo., came in a close second and third respectively.

For their winning entry, Salem Baptist Church will receive a free 2010 Vacation Bible School “Super Sampler.”

For the first time, contest submissions were displayed in albums on the LifeWay News Facebook page. Visitors to Facts & Trends Online voted for their favorite image from a group of 10 finalists chosen by LifeWay staff. The winning image, along with the other finalists, will be featured on Facts & Trends Online.
