DALLAS (BP) – Registration figures for the upcoming Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting are on par with recent years and “well above” the last time Dallas hosted the gathering.
Just over 6,000 messengers have pre-registered, said Jonathan Howe, vice president for convention administration for the SBC Executive Committee. While business sessions occur June 10-11 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, events begin on June 2 with Crossover Dallas.
Registration for the annual meeting, as well as all other events, can be made at SBCAnnualMeeting.net.
Housing reservations or changes to pre-existing reservations may be made through the link, but the deadline to do so is Thursday, May 8. Preschool childcare with Giant Calf is full, said Howe, but spaces are still available for elementary-aged kids with Giant Cow Ministries.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Southern Baptists to Dallas this June for the SBC Annual Meeting,” Howe said. “We’re excited about the momentum and the opportunity to gather together in a city with such strong Southern Baptist roots and vibrant ministry presence.
“This year, we’re opening the largest exhibit hall in SBC history, featuring more than 250 exhibitors and a few new surprises for attendees. In addition to the main sessions, attendees can choose from more than 100 ancillary events happening throughout the week, offering opportunities to connect, grow and be equipped for ministry.”
In addition to the exhibit hall, messengers have the opportunity to sign up and attend a number of luncheons. The International Mission Board’s Sending Celebration, a highlight of the gathering, takes place in the opening business session on Tuesday morning while elections for leadership positions occur that afternoon.
