LifeWay announces 2002 LINKie award winners


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Five churches and two associations have been awarded the first annual LINKie Award for interactive excellence.

Presented by LifeWayLINK.com, a provider of church Web site development tools and hosting, the awards recognize outstanding use of Web sites for ministry. The recipients of the LINKie Awards excel in online areas such as community outreach, congregational communications and innovative technology, said Tim Vineyard, vice president of the Technology Division, LifeWay Christian Resources.

The 2002 LINKie Award recipients in the Church category included:

— Long Hollow Baptist Church of Hendersonville, Tenn., www.longhollow.com

Also recognized for unique innovations or various elements of interactive excellence were the 2002 LINKie honorable mentions, which included:

“People increasingly are turning to the Internet for spiritual information, and churches large and small are responding with some very effective ways to meet these needs,” Vineyard said. “We established the LINKie Awards in coordination with our LifeWayLINK ministry to applaud great examples of how to use the Internet for the Kingdom.”

Featuring hundreds of Web site designs, LifeWayLINK helps churches and associations create and maintain professional Web sites simply, he added.

Web sites are available to SBC churches for free. More advanced LifeWayLINK sites also are available for monthly fees or at an annual discount. In addition, associations are entitled to a free Web site for a year. More information and the sign-up process can be found at www.lifewaylink.com.
