SBC DIGEST: ABSC director search begins; Florida convention working with forensic auditors

Search begins for next executive director of Arkansas Baptist State Convention

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Operating Committee of the Executive Board of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention (ABSC) is launching its search for the next executive director of the Convention.

The Operating Committee serves as the search team for the next executive director and makes its recommendation to the Executive Board. The executive director is then elected by the Executive Board, which currently consists of 88 Arkansas Baptists from across the state elected annually by messengers of the Convention.

The executive director will lead the ABSC staff in serving the needs of the more than 1,400 churches of the Convention.

The search team will consider recommendations/resumes sent to [email protected].

Update from Florida Baptist Convention leadership

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As was recently announced, the Florida Baptist Convention was the victim of a highly sophisticated cyber crime which used fraudulent emails. The matter was related to our Send Network Florida account in partnership with the North American Mission Board. We are currently working with forensic auditors and legal authorities to determine how this crime occurred. Meanwhile, we remain confident in our SBC entities, their financial and structural integrity and our missional financial partnerships.
