WMU debuts new Internet site at SBC

SALT LAKE CITY (BP)–Woman’s Missionary Union debuted its latest Internet site June 8 in its exhibit at the Southern Baptist Convention in Salt Lake City. The new site, www.WMU.com, is the organization’s second site. The first one was launched in October 1995. “The new web site is much more interactive than the first one,” Lisa Rowell, WMU webmaster, said. “It is not only designed to help the visitor learn about WMU, but also links the person to ministry opportunities and missionaries around the world.” The web site’s main page includes a variety of options: WMU organizations and language, WMU Foundation, ministry opportunities, missionary spotlight, hot links, just for missionaries, important dates, resources, missions leadership, and What’s new. Following is a brief description of each section:
— WMU organizations and language takes the visitor to age-appropriate areas for Women on Mission, Adults on Mission, Youth, Children in Action, Girls in Action, Mission Friends and Language/Cultural Groups (available in English and Spanish).
— WMU Foundation leads to a list of scholarships the foundation offers and how to apply, as well as a list of the funds to which interested individuals can contribute.
— Ministry opportunities includes information on how to get involved in Volunteer Connection, Christian Women’s Job Corps, Project HELP emphases, WorldCrafts and Baptist Nursing Fellowship.
— Missionary spotlight is a monthly missionary story written by missionaries.
— Hot Links provides links to other Southern Baptist web sites as well as other Christian web sites.
— Just for missionaries provides a direct link to available North American and international missionaries’ e-mail and web site addresses. — Important dates lists the upcoming events on the Southern Baptist calendar as well as training events and meetings all over the world.
— Resources provides clipart for downloading and a variety of New Hope and WorldCrafts products.
— Missions leadership is for the WMU director or pastor. It provides additional resources for each quarter.
