CLOVIS, N.M. (BP) -- Baptist Convention of New Mexico (BCNM) Executive Director Joseph Bunce announced Tuesday (Oct. 22) he will retire from his position effective February 2021, following 15 years of service as the state's lead missionary. Bunce announced his retirement during his executive director's report at the BCNM annual meeting, held Oct. 21-23 at Central Baptist Church in Clovis. He reminded New Mexico Baptists, "All of us are interims," telling those in attendance that his job "has been to bridge one generation to the next."

ALBUQUERQUE (BP) -- Twenty-nine churches participated in the Baptist Convention of New Mexico's (BCNM) 2019 Hispanic Simultaneous Revivals campaign. The number rose from 24 churches during the 2018 campaign. Based on reports from 28 of the 29 participating churches, a total of 783 non-Christian Hispanics attended the outreach events. The effort resulted in the recording of 103 professions of faith and 12 baptisms.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (BNM) -- Serving asylum-seeking migrants is as simple as "a cup of cold water in Jesus' name" says Frieda Adams, a former 20-year veteran Southern Baptist missionary and current coordinator for medical personnel in New Mexico's Dona Ana County. Adams is one of many Baptists in New Mexico providing humanitarian assistance to asylum-seeking migrants vetted and released by United States Customs and Border Patrol agents, en route to approved immigration sponsors in other parts of the country.
