DUNDALK, Maryland — It was a chilly, damp morning on Nov. 22, just days before Thanksgiving, when John Hormess arrived at Creekside Community Church, Dundalk, to prepare for the church’s monthly  “My Father’s Pantry” outreach.

God is answering that prayer — and Valley Baptist Church is a powerful example.

WESTERNPORT, Md. — On a cool day in June, Disaster Relief (DR) volunteers from Baptist conventions in Maryland/Delaware, New England, West Virginia and North Carolina gathered in Westernport to assist flood victims. Wearing masks and gloves, the team of about 30 men and women worked diligently, dragging ruined household items and shoveling mud from basements. They were finishing the final stages of a three-week deployment, focused on completing mud-out work on 150 homes following massive flooding in mid-May.

SYKESVILLE, Md. (BP) — In the fall of 2024, Friendship Baptist Church started a Hispanic church called FBC en Español, led by Church Planters Martin and Ester Nieto of Cancun, Mexico. The new church is already gaining momentum and drawing visitors from the local Hispanic community.
