2022 Annual Meeting

ANAHEIM, Calif. (BP) – With the weight of so many important decisions facing Southern Baptists in the coming days, hundreds gathered to pray at the Anaheim Convention Center Sunday night (June 12).

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Following a week of Southern Baptist seminary students engaging neighborhoods around Anaheim, 34 churches engaged their communities through various outreach events Saturday, June 11, through Crossover, which partnered with Send Relief to host a Serve Tour experience that took place ahead of the 2022 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (BP) – Next week the Southern Baptist Convention will gather for our 164th annual meeting. It is always a special time when our convention comes together each June for this two-day family meeting. This is our first annual gathering in California in more than 40 years, and I am deeply grateful for the hard work and hospitality of so many of our fellow Baptists out here on the West Coast to make this meeting possible.

FARMERSVILLE, Texas (BP) – This weekend, flights filled with pastors and their families from all over the country will land in California. They'll grab rental cars or book Ubers to make their way to the Southern Baptist Convention Pastors' Conference for two days of encouragement and edification. As they do, I thought it would be helpful to look back at the history of our legendary conference, give a taste of what to expect Sunday and Monday, and look ahead at our future. 

ANAHEIM, Calif. – For Southern Baptists gearing up to attend the 2022 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting in Anaheim, Calif., the North American Mission Board (NAMB) will offer avenues for church leaders and guests to engage the mission and take time to be refreshed and encouraged in Southern California.

NASHVILLE (BP) – Messengers and guests at the 2022 SBC Annual Meeting (June 14-15) in Anaheim, Calif., will have the opportunity to hear real-time translation of the proceedings in multiple different languages via their own smartphone or mobile device.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BP) – Last week, the SBC’s Sexual Abuse Task Force made several formal recommendations to the messengers for their consideration at the upcoming 2022 SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim. Among them was a recommendation that an Abuse Reform Implementation Task Force (ARITF), in coordination with the SBC Executive Committee (EC), create a “process” for maintaining a Ministry Check list of pastors, denominational workers, and volunteers who are “credibly accused” of sexual abuse. The messengers should approve this recommendation.

MAGEE, Miss. (BP) – A Mississippi pastor has announced plans to nominate a fellow Mississippi pastor who is a sexual abuse survivor to serve in the role of SBC first vice president. Adam Wyatt announced his intentions to nominate Brad Eubank, senior pastor of Petal First Baptist Church in Petal, Miss., to serve in the role.

ANAHEIM, Calif. (BP) – The California Southern Baptist Convention (CSBC) is asking fellow Southern Baptists to join them in Anaheim and consider taking the next step. In a video called “Consider California,” released by the CSBC, church leaders take viewers on a tour of the Golden State and highlight the need for Gospel impact.
