Belmont’s new hoops home sweet, but new conference is sweeter

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Belmont forward Adam Sonn has only been inside Nashville Municipal Auditorium once — 10 years ago, when he watched the Harlem Globetrotters play.

“I remember they won,” Sonn recalled. “I went with a friend from junior high. The whole place was packed. [The Globetrotters] were shooting warm-up shots from the corners of halfcourt. They were doing these behind-the-back hook shots and making, like, seven out of eight of them.”

Now Sonn be the one making the hook shots (though maybe a little closer from halfcourt) because the Bruins have reached a one-year deal to play at the Auditorium. With construction just recently underway on the $50 million Curb Events Center, Belmont is set to play 12 games in the 8,354-seat facility.
