Beth Moore among highlights at 2002 women’s conferences

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–Popular author and teacher Beth Moore will speak during two National Christian Women’s Conventions set for April 18-20, 2002, in Fort Worth, Texas, and Sept. 26-28, 2002, in Birmingham, Ala.

“Seek Me, Know Me, Return to Me” is the theme of both conventions sponsored by LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention.

“The goal is for women to walk away being encouraged, empowered and challenged to allow God to use them wherever they are in life to impact their culture,” said Faith Whatley, women’s event team leader for LifeWay. “We hope women become closer to the Lord in their walk and that we see God use the women who attend in years to come.”

Cost for the conference is $65 per person, and registration has begun. Group rates are not available.

Both meetings will follow the same schedule with the same speakers, although the singers scheduled to perform will differ. Christian entertainer Babbie Mason will perform in Fort Worth, with Larnelle Harris taking the stage in Birmingham.

The three-day convention will include daily sessions that deal with issues of hope, peace, relationships and culture.

Besides Moore, speakers include Mary Kassian, a teacher and author of “In My Father’s House: Women Relating to God as Father,” and Margaret Becker, a Christian artist and speaker. Marriage conference leaders Gary and Karolyn Chapman will talk about relationships, and Iris Blue, a former inmate of the Texas Department of Corrections and current Mission Service Corps volunteer, will conclude the event with a final session on culture.

Convention highlights also will include a performance by Ballet Magnificat, a Christian ballet company from Jackson, Miss. A music celebration featuring an interactive time of praise and worship with Christian artists and a multi-racial choir will highlight Friday night’s events.
