Florida State walk-on becomes team captain, spiritual leader

MIAMI (BP)–Back in 1996, Seminole senior linebacker Jean Jeune was a walk-on hopeful at Florida State. He wore a triple-digit number, used tattered shoulder pads and donned a worn-out jersey. In tonight’s national championship Orange Bowl game, Jeune will walk onto the field as a Seminole team captain, as a respected spiritual leader and as one of the feared hitters in the game.

Meanwhile, Darious Songaila looks ready to lead No. 4 Wake Forest toward an Atlantic Coast Conference championship just like he helped Lithuania to a bronze medal in the Sydney Olympics.
