Houston manager tapped for LifeWay stores’ top honor

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–LifeWay Christian Stores has named Gabbie Maxner, manager of the national chain’s northwest Houston store, as “Manager of the Year” for her effective store management during the 1999-2000 fiscal year. The presentation will be made at the national sales meeting for LifeWay Christian Stores in Nashville, Tenn., in May.

Maxner has been manager of the LifeWay Christian Store in Willowbrook Court on Tomball Parkway since November 1998 and is a member of the Copperfield (Texas) Baptist Church.

Bruce Munns, vice president of retail operations for the chain, said the award was based on “outstanding operational performance of the store as well as Gabbie’s leadership. We are very proud of her and the entire staff.”

Maxner said she is “humbled, honored and incredibly blessed” by the recognition. “I share this award with all the wonderful LifeWay employees who are a part of shaping our store’s effective ministry to our SBC constituents and other Christians in the northwest Houston area.”

Five other store managers were finalists for the award: Kerrie Ledbetter of Charleston, S.C.; Philip Kays of Bridgeton, Mo.; Julie Highfill of Shreveport, La.; Hal Perdue of Augusta, Ga.; and Bill Barenkamp of Kennesaw, Ga.
