Wyo. ups budget 0.5%


ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (BP)–Wyoming Southern Baptists adopted a slightly larger budget when messengers met Nov. 11-12 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rock Springs, Wyo.

The 2011 budget of $1.54 million represents an increase of .5 percent over the previous year, according to Lynn Nikkel, executive director of the Wyoming Southern Baptist Convention. The budget anticipates $586,899 in Cooperative Program receipts from Wyoming Southern Baptist churches and will continue to send 32.5 percent on to national and international Southern Baptist mission causes.

A total of 98 messengers from 36 churches gathered for the meeting centered on the theme “Empowered to Go,” based on Acts 1:8. The Wyoming Southern Baptist Convention currently is composed of approximately 100 churches and missions with 12,131 total members.

Serving as officers for the coming year will be Buddy Hanson, pastor of Mountain View Baptist Church in Mills, re-elected as president; Quin Williams, pastor of Boyd Ave Baptist Church in Casper, first vice president; Mike Cooper, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church in Casper, re-elected as second vice president; and Hope Reynolds, member of Heart of the Valley Baptist church in Mountain View, re-elected as recording secretary. All officers were elected by acclamation.

The 2011 annual meeting will be Nov. 10-11 at Mountain View Baptist Church in Mills.
