Oct. 9 is the deadline for individuals to submit their names or their nominations to the Dakota Baptist Convention, Oct. 31 for the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. Dakota Baptists, encompassing 83 churches in the two states, are seeking a successor for Garvon Golden, who retires Dec. 31, having led the convention since 2012. ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (BP) -- Eight state Baptist conventions -- at their own initiative -- are moving toward sweeping changes. The conventions' goal: adding value to their churches. Colorado Baptists -- the first to launch a broad revisioning -- are now in the second year of a process facilitated by Will Mancini, a Houston-based church consultant/coach and author.

NASHVILLE (BP) -- Biblical authority remains firm in the Southern Baptist Convention, two seminary presidents said in response to a forthcoming video claiming looming liberalism in the SBC. Danny Akin, president of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in North Carolina, and R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kentucky, issued statements to Baptist Press July 31 after Tom Ascol, president of Founders Ministries, defended the upcoming video/documentary titled "By What Standard."
