VIDEO: SBC leaders host virtual rally for 2021 SBC Annual Meeting

NASHVILLE (BP) – SBC Executive Committee President and CEO Ronnie Floyd hosted a Facebook Live event today (Sept. 15) to share more about the 2021 Annual Meeting and encourage as many churches as possible to send messengers to Nashville. Watch the full broadcast below.

Also appearing were SBC President J.D. Greear, North American Mission Board President Kevin Ezell and International Mission Board President Paul Chitwood as well as Tennessee Baptist Mission Board Executive Director Randy C. Davis and Nashville Baptist Association Executive Director Rusty Sumrall.

Greear invited Southern Baptists to participate in the citywide Crossover outreach on Saturday, June 12, 2021.

“This is a great opportunity to work with your local association and state convention to live out the Great Commission,” Greear said.

Ezell talked about the NAMB Send Conference that will take the place of the usual SBC Pastors’ Conference Sunday and Monday, June 13-14, 2021, while Chitwood previewed the IMB missionary sending celebration – an event that is always an SBC annual meeting highlight.

Floyd, Davis and Sumrall stressed the benefits of the host city and the event location – the Gaylord Opryland Resort, which boasts a waterpark and nine acres of indoor gardens. Ezell also highlighted the family-friendly nature of the meeting, which will include special activities for women, students and children.

In 2005, the last time the Annual Meeting was held in Nashville, 11,641 messengers from 4,775 churches attended the event.

Floyd hopes to see those numbers increase after the 2020 meeting was canceled due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. And like many Southern Baptists, Floyd is looking forward to the SBC reconvening next summer.

“Pastors and leaders, plan now,” Floyd said in the broadcast. “Bring your full slate of messengers. And let’s make this our best attended gathering in years.”
