INDIANAPOLIS (BP)--Southern Baptists will gather in Indianapolis June 15-16, continuing their Empowering Kingdom Growth initiative by focusing on the theme "Kingdom Forever."
The theme, drawn from Matthew 6:13 -- "For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever" -- is the second consecutive year in which the theme has centered on the EKG (Empowering Kingdom Growth) initiative, which began in 2002. The initiative asks all Southern Baptists to examine if they are Kingdom-focused.

      "The Southern Baptist Convention is an opportunity for us to share with the world what God is doing in our lives, in our churches and through the people known as Southern Baptists," SBC President Jack Graham said. Annuity Board wellness walk slated for second year in Indy

Wellness walk

DALLAS (BP)--The Annuity Board, along with several of its life and health vendors, is sponsoring its second annual one-mile wellness walk at the Southern Baptist Convention in Indianapolis. In addition to the one-mile walk, a new 5K course will be set up for runners and walkers who want the additional challenge.
      The 2004 Living@YourBest Wellness Walk and 5K Run will be held Monday, June 14, at 6:30 a.m. at White River State Park, within walking distance from most hotels in the downtown Indianapolis area. A warm-up stretch will begin at 6:15 a.m. Healthful refreshments will be served to all participants at the end of the walk.

Gearing up for Indy

INDIANAPOLIS (BP)--A wide range of evangelistic events will be reinforced by revival services June 10-12 during Crossover Indianapolis, the annual evangelism emphasis in the host city of the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting.
      It’s a strategy local leaders believe will go far in helping new believers in Christ to be quickly assimilated into local congregations, while also taking advantage of the local presence of vocational evangelists and pastors from across the country to lead the revivals.

John Hays, Ohio conv. leader, to be nominated for SBC 2nd VP

VERMILION, Ohio (BP)--A former president of the Ohio Baptist convention, John Hays, will be nominated for Southern Baptist Convention second vice president during the SBC’s June 15-16 annual meeting in Indianapolis.
