Columnist’s distaste for motor sports still intact

DuQUOIN, Ill. (BP)–BPSports columnist Tim Ellsworth went to his first auto race on Labor Day — the ARCA Southern Illinois 100.

Although not on the same level as NASCAR, the ARCA race did include a couple of NASCAR drivers — Tony Stewart and Ken Schrader – “so it wasn’t just some podunk race of no consequence,” Ellsworth writes.

“I thought seeing an event of this caliber in person might soften my distaste for the sport. But it didn’t.”
