Looking for special-priced Disneyland tickets while at SBC? Hakuna matata.

NASHVILLE (BP) – Southern Baptists with only an Orlando Disney history will have the opportunity to experience a whole new world through discounted tickets to Disneyland while attending the 2022 SBC Annual Meeting in Anaheim this June.

Registration confirmation for the SBC meeting allows purchase of up to six tickets through a designated portal. Disneyland must be explored, and Southern Baptists will get the chance to do so with attractions such as Star Wars™ Galaxy’s Edge, Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, Avengers Campus and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!

Tickets are now on sale, and the usage window begins Thursday, June 9, and goes through Monday, June. 20. The ticket store will close at 9 p.m., PDT on Saturday, June 11.

Jonathan Howe, SBC Executive Committee vice president for communications, recently interviewed Disney travel specialist Monica Hutcheson on how messengers can let down their hair while enjoying all the rides and attractions the park has to offer while in town for the meeting. The interview was part of the weekly Road to Anaheim video series.

There will be noticeable differences for those who’ve only been to Orlando meetings. If you’re expecting the sheer size of Disney World, let it go. As the original built in 1955, Disneyland was planted on a section of land that didn’t leave much room for expansion. However, it is also where Walt Disney partook of the rides himself and had a space constructed over the fire department for him to stay overnight when he wanted to and from where he could see guests enter the park. “Uncle Walt” would signal his presence by lighting a lamp in the window, which remains lit to this day.

Hopping between parks is relatively easy due to the smaller size. Separated only by the Disneyland Esplanade, Disneyland and Disneyland California Adventure Park are adjacent to each other. The latter is close enough that Southern Baptists walking into the Anaheim Convention Center will look across West Katella Avenue on hearing squeals of delight from those on the Incredicoaster and Radiator Springs Racers. Afterward, watch messengers from Alabama to Alaska chow down at Flo’s V8 Café.

For those curiouser and curiouser about fast pass options, Howe and Hutcheson go into detail on Disney’s Genie and Genie+ services, including the Lightning Lane. That can affect decisions like going to both parks on the same day or stretching the visit.

Once in the park, there will be no wondering what to do that day, or two days, as the number of options might require even more.

“If you wanted to do three [days], I’d do two in Disneyland and one at California Adventure,” Howe suggested; Hutcheson agreed.

For those who may have enjoyed Disneyland only in pandemic-restricted times, it’ll feel like the start of something new April 22 with the return of its celebrated nighttime events “Main Street Electrical Parade” and “Disneyland Forever” as well as the return of “World of Color” to Disneyland California Adventure park. “Fantasmic” returns to Disneyland park May 28.

Other parks besides Disneyland are nearby (you’re welcome) such as SeaWorld, Universal Studios and Legoland. “There’s so much to do … and endless opportunities,” Hutcheson said.
