SWBTS student performs on ‘America’s Got Talent’ live show
PASADENA, Calif. (BP) – Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary student Lachune Boyd performed live before the nation on “America’s Got Talent” (AGT) during the fifth qualifying round of the hit NBC show on Sept. 19. Boyd, a Master of Music student with a concentration in voice, previously made it past the audition stage with a unanimous decision by the panel of judges.

Dockery installed as 10th president of SWBTS
FORT WORTH, Texas (BP) – Beginning his 40th year of service in Christian higher education, David S. Dockery was officially installed as the tenth president of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary during an investiture ceremony that was part of the school’s Aug. 22 convocation service.

Southwestern alumnus Hirohisa Hogaki drowns rescuing his children
FORT WORTH (BP) – Hirohisa “Hiro” Hogaki, a two-time alumnus of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, drowned July 16 in his native Japan while rescuing two of his children from drowning. Hogaki earned his bachelor’s degree from what is now known as Texas Baptist College in 2010 and his Master of Arts in Theology from Southwestern Seminary in 2020.
