2026 SBC Annual Meeting

Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President Albert Mohler announced his intention today (May 18) to propose an amendment to Article III of the SBC Constitution that, he said, “would make clear” how cooperating Southern Baptist churches will view the role of women in the office of pastor/elder/overseer.

ORLANDO (BP) – There are several aspects to serving as Southern Baptist Convention president, including being a voice that speaks to the issues. Josh Powell acknowledges that is baked into the job, but prefers an in-house approach that celebrates gains while addressing the issues that hinder fulfilling the Great Commission.

ORLANDO – In addition to 10 culture-specific Asian fellowships in the Southern Baptist Convention, there are two that cross several cultures, and a research network that expands to all ethnicities.

ORLANDO – The 2020 U.S. Census data provides population counts of 313 race and ethnicity groups living in the United States, plus 1,187 American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) tribes and villages.

NASHVILLE (BP) – The 2026 SBC Book of Reports is now online. The book is the go-to guide for Southern Baptists as they prepare to make decisions during the annual meeting. The print edition will be available at this year’s meeting in Orlando.
