Claude Cone’s son dies in Aug. 31 auto accident


ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (BP)–Craig Cone, 37, son of Baptist Convention of New Mexico Executive Director Claude Cone, was killed in an automobile accident near Hamilton, Texas, at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 31.
Craig Cone, a pilot, had flown his boss to Hamilton, located northwest of Waco, and was driving a pickup truck back to the airport when a head-on collision occurred. His vehicle burst into flames upon contact, and he was burned beyond recognition. The three people in the other vehicle were injured and were reported to be in stable condition at a nearby hospital Sept. 1.
In addition to his father, Craig Cone is survived by his mother, Jeannie; wife, Charla; a 5-year-old daughter, 3-year-old son and 3-year-old stepdaughter; and a sister, Kathy, of Marshall, Texas.
Tentative plans are for a graveside service to be held in Lubbock, Texas, Thursday, Sept. 4, and a memorial service to be held at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, Albuquerque, Saturday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m.

Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock is handling the arrangements for the committal service.
